“Internet Privacy after CCPA”

Location: 177 Huntington Ave, conference room 503

Abstract:  The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the subsequent California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) were designed to enhance Internet privacy by giving consumers more control of their personal information and by imposing data protection requirements on corporations. In this talk, I will describe work my group has done to empirically measure the impact California’s privacy laws through a combination of measurement studies and user studies. I will also discuss possible directions forward at the intersection of computer science and law.
